Your life is a rose
But all you see are the thorns
Your life is a song
But you are deaf to its melody
You came from a seed
Lovingly planted and gently sown
But you believe that the soil is suffocating you
And it won't let you grow
Your life is a blessing
But you think it a curse
Darkness fills your days
Lamplight for your nights
Cause you are afraid to fall asleep
In case you might dream
Something you find yourself undeserving of
So you sit and cry
The rose is in bloom,
Forget the thorns
The melody plays on
Play it louder
Have courage, play it louder
So even deaf ears can listen
And remember you will always be blessed
Cause you have your life
Someone tells a joke
You want to laugh
But something holds you back
Happiness is a state of mind
So is depression and sadness
Push away the dark clouds
And you'll find yourself laughing again
It's hard, I know...
But it's something you have to do
To realize your dreams
Go ahead, don't be afraid
Show them what it means to be you and be proud
"What did I do to deserve this?"
Still your questions are answered
With silent falling tears...
Or at least that's how you see it
But the truth is you are not alone
There are other people who feel the way you do
Be a light for them...cause they are waiting
Remember these words:
"You are a rose
Forget the thorns
You are a song
Listen carefully to the melody
You are blessed
Cause you have your life
AND YOU WILL SURVIVE!

Terrific piece here
I like the imagery and the analogies you used.
How different it is at times, the way we view ourselves and the way everyone else sees us.
