What happens when you regret a mistake you've made and after turning back to apologize, and try to make things right, you realize that the door has been closed behind you?
You try your best to get in, to find a window, to breakdown the door...but all you can do is peek through the cracks in the wall, watching the person you love the most observe your feeble attempts. They laugh in scorn, they stare on nonchalantly, they even look you in the eye with the coldest, most apathetic glare, and tell you they don't care anymore...
You apologize. You beg. You plead. And after some time you end up destroying yourself, your heart, and your soul, while trying to win back your loved one's respect and devotion.
After the destruction, you lay in ruins...
You try to put the pieces back together, but then you realize that it's not worth it anymore. So you just lay there...
You lay there in the wreckage which you, yourself, created. And you begin to pretend. You pretend he still loves you. You pretend everything is okay.
But in the end, the person who you lived for, who you hurt, is no longer there and you sink into a numbness so profound that your existence becomes a mere memory.
Author notes
It's not really a poem...just something I wrote to let my feelings out.
What did you think?
