Speak the truth
Do so each day
Speak with lies
They’ll forget what you say
Your words should have fire
Or else why bother
Listening to a liar
Is like drinking warm water
Stand straight and tall
Your head held up high
Others will listen
Look right in their eyes
The eyes show the soul
Yours should be clean
When they look into yours
They’ll know what you mean
Speak the truth
No matter the cost
There’s more to be gained
Than ever you lost
Liars can fool you
They do so with charm
If you truly listen
You’ll know they mean harm
Liars must remember
All the lies they have told
It’s a load they must carry
Their words become cold
If you speak truth
Your words do no harm
Speak with your heart
Your words become warm
True words can bring comfort
They can wipe away tears
Truth brings you honor
When you speak without fear
My words here are true
No lies if you’ve wondered
If you live by these truths
Your words will have thunder

Most liars learn from parents I realized that long ago.
in my work.

Brilliant write...
Very, very wise words indeed. It is a shame that more people don't live by this simple but important rule of life...excellent stuff

Brilliant. I'll second that emotion. This is a powerful poem, etched in wisdom.

Sir, you have echoed valuable words of meaning in a fantastic way. It is the words we speak, we write, we give to others that makes us who we are. The gain of being true will bring dividends that just cannot be bought. Your words have a thunder of their own, and show charater of a man who speaks from the heart, simply stunning and well worth being shared to enlighten those who fail through not saying what they mean.
Thank you for allowing us the priviledge.

Thank you for your comment
I have struggled with liars at all levels and have never understood why they want to waste their time and mine. Of course most of these same people hold great animosity for me because I don't always accept the lies and looking into their eyes makes them nervous. Oh well, so be it. I would rather speak true and straight in this one life than live a hundred of their lives. A very wise man once told me that truth rolls through the mind like thunder but lies fall silently on deaf ears.
Thank you again and please, if you should read any of my work and see some improvement that could be made I am always open to suggestions.
