SOS 3.On Love and Lust - Wyleian Sonnet CCLV
Methinks that love and lust go hand in hand
for both are inextricably entwined
as feelings we may scarcely understand
though naturally born to human mind.
If our primeval instincts we deny
and say that lust with love should not belong,
it seems to me that we thereby imply
that such desire is sinful, base and wrong.
But these instincts by God were given place
that we should venerate the other sex
in order to promote the human race
when each a mate and ‘other half’ selects.
Therefore the urges and desires of Man
are surely vital parts of God’s Great Plan.
This sonnet is dedicated, with love, to my friend MargaretG
whose suggestion inspired it. The illustration is from Google.

Very lovely! When God said be fruitful and multiply surely He wasn't only implying mathematically!

You are a man of great talent.!

Your inspiration has taken an unexpected leap Hugh, to a sound discussion of love and lust within a marriage. Such is my understanding too, we harness natural and God-given urges into a structure which sanctifies them. This is a bonza addition to the Wyleian corpus.

Dear Hugh,
Definitely love and lust go hand in hand, the passion has to be there to feel the love within our hearts and is truly part of God's plan.
A beautiful poem from Margarets prompt.
