This depression

I lose my seeing,
I lose my feeling,
Your very smile - its absence,
Brings me to tears.
This illness,
This violation,
Is unrepenting and unfaltering.
Your face - a light.

To turn from the light,
I don't turn in flight,
Is to welcome darkness,
Usher it in.
It pushes,
It conquers,
Pushing me to the bottom
Of hope - I can't win.

Too scared to scream -
Would you answer?
Too scared for all but crying -
Do you notice it?
So it goes on.
It wins.

I feel it pushing,
I feel the crushing,
The suffocation,
This depression.
