when the pond wanted to be the sea

what is it about the falling of seasons that enthrals us so?  why can’t we just accept we don’t understand and move on? because I guess we’re designed to function that way. I guess it’s what keeps us breathing.

I placed you halfway between today and tomorrow, because I thought you should fit somewhere.

rainbows fell and shards of daylight were scattered scarcely in the afternoon sky. I saw the mountains become illuminated as the sun crept behind it and wondered if fireflies were jealous of the way it shine. I guess they would be, because why glow when you can burn?

I filled my veins with grass and let flowers smoulder in the heat of inhibitions. they wanted to grow tall and bloom into perpetual branches like sequoias, but were stuck being six centimetres high.

-

‘why are you planting seeds in a forest?’

it was a decent question, and sometimes I asked myself the exact same thing.

‘because what will happen when the cycle of death steals away one tree, then another, and then another? you will be left with no trees and no air. our lungs will not only falter, but implode. life on earth would become stagnant and who would bury the last person standing?’

you looked at me as if I was a stranger.

"I placed you halfway between today and tomorrow, because I thought you should fit somewhere."

This stuck out in particular but overall this had a high readability. I feel like the speaker's feeling foreign in their own home and I'll be damned if I don't relate most days.

  • strong write that really grabs the reader as a story that needs to be read, it had a strong title and as always with your writes a strong ending :]
