Windows that face my western styled doors,
free to be open and accept deliveries,
their creakings repaired in candlelight
as summer's cloudbursts stalked us
and allowed frenzied rain drops
to startle the cat
Not only the cows that looked
normal; at best a saunter and hobble
uphill in the dark,
a brief acquaintance with the lights
on -
then off again,
the dog's panting
huffed in rythm with my
shuffling sandals.
