Slice my skin
razor thin,
Peel the layers,
savoring the flavors
Sink in your teeth,
to the flesh beneath
Did you know I could feel?
When you rip away my peel?
The Orange....

Cool. That really gets the point across. Super fun to read out loud.

Well you know who is to say if a fruit is alive and well when we kill it just for the meat.
I wonder what transgressions we commit simply by breathing in the air of this world, when we are the domina and the rest must succumb.

Fun piece. The poem seemed out of style from what I have read of yours in the past, and the background just did not seem to match, but it all came together in the end for a good chuckle. Nice write!!

Very cute Lissa!! But oranges don't have souls
I was like wtf did she go brutal emo or something with this piece? So was relieved you were just being your usual adorable self!!

Great to hear you got a great laugh from it lol. Not actually the poet of the month, I'm an activity leader here at AP, and have people nominated for Member of the Month, and then we ask a series of questions, like an interview. The poet of the month is http://allpoetry.com/sideways%20hourglass

Well, I sure hope they don't feel the process! Gives a rather cannibalistic tang to the idea of candied orange peels, no? Interesting contemplation!

I know huh? It gives me shivers thinking about them crying in pain because we peeled them! EEKS! Thanks for the comment lol.
My AP son Matt and I were talking, and of course this actually had a dark beginning but I turned it around because I'm tired of writing dark stuff LOL. And we were talking about another of my poems that is completely hilarious, and it suited. LOL
