You smooth your shirt and brush away the tears,
Check your smile in the mirror and push aside all your fears.
Pretend that things will go on according to plan,
And that this time around its with a better man.
Keeping thinking that friends will never lie,
And that it isn't alright for them to see you cry.
So keep hiding the truth behind that smile,
And make believe this happiness will last for a while.
Keep saying this ignorance is all for the best,
Maybe in the end you'll believe it like the rest.

some ppl accept the love and care of others....those who aren't use to this kindness... reject it....cuz it's not what they're use to.... so where do they run? They run to what to what they know best. This is acceptance to them.......... as twisted as that sounds..... :-/

I like the rhyme in this. This is very deep, and it seems your faith in human kindness has run dry. A very sorrowful and heartbreaking piece. I like your flow too. Keep writing.

I like this a lot. It reminds me of a song, perhaps by Carrie Underwood, but I could be wrong. The rhyming is nice, but I think the rhymes between "lie" and "cry" sound a bit forced, but that's just me. Other than that, I wouldn't change anything about this. Great job!
