We are linked-
members in a chain
of race, of ethnicity,
of family.
We are more alike than different.
At the most basic level of ourselves
we share a bond.
We are all human.
Yet we let our differences divide-
All the things that hold us apart
our color, our ideology,
our nationality.
We hold these things so close.
A basic sense of identity
protecting us.
I guess that's just human nature.

I guess, and to no fault... "to be human is to err"!
It is too bad that we cannot set all the differences aside and see the light of each individual. The brevity written here speaks in volumes. We know the problems. It is my hope that someday soon we advance to some of the possible solutions. This poem is a poignant one and it makes the reader stop to think of ways to mend that, which is broken, and in dire need of repair.
Thank you every so much for this entry and for aspiring to become the AllPoetry Poet Laureate. I wish you well in this challenge and in your life's endeavors.
Much Love & Respect ♥

Funny how we protect us and in doing so we destroy humanity as a whole... Some excellent thoughts here.
