Abate Not My Heart (Sonnet 10)

Here separate kept by place and space and time,
Entwined with threads of gold by destiny wove,
My pensive heart oppressed no less than thine,
It’s cadence beat depends on memories trove.

My thoughts suppressed still whisper gently,
While here I distant sleep as cast by fate,
Though focused thought as prescribed intently,
Holds bridled heart’s release to conjugate.

Yet still the ribbon of connection strains,
To summon forth your voice, sultry to hear,
That we again might share our refrains,
And I might place my lips upon your ear.

For time cannot abate ones heart’s desire,
When hidden passion burns in stealthy fire.

Please tell me what you think
