If only

Broken earthen pots
Dry throats
Pairs of eyes searching a patch of clouds

The merciless mountains of sand
Engulfs the remains of a dead crow
And the desert wind howls in celebration

Lungs filled with sand
Fighting with heat waves
For a whiff of cool air

And nature is crying
For you and for itself
...if only the past could be undone!

Simple, haunting, beautiful. This is my favorite type of poetry, and you write it wonderfully.

  • Simply beautiful! I am in awe, the closing line says it all but leaves one standing with their mouth open...amazing!
    Very devouring of the trophy.
