I feel my paws gliding along,
barely touching the mossy forest floor.
For the sake of my pact family,
I must complete this nightly chore.
Soon after my pact returns from the hunt,
I can stop guarding the land to play and race.
Running around, sneaking up and tackling eachother
soon turns into an open chase.
I feel the wisp of the wind through my fur
and take a look at my happy pack around me.
I realize that I am truly free
and this is where I was meant to be.
I raise my regal head up high and let loose a greatful
howl to the moon and stars above.
For giving me freedom to run though
the trees at night and for my pack family's love.
On all four paws weaving through thick trees, running
without fear of anything, I finally feel right at home.
Night vision and stronger senses,
I feel as though I could take on the world.
I can choose my own actions and leave
to see new sights whenever it pleases me.
No reason to look back at previous faults
and from my past I can finally be free.
Moving with grace like a shadow
blending in with the mist.
Creature of the night following
in the footsteps of ancertors.
Singing to the moon and hunting
when hungry, sounds like bliss.
Already knowing my purpose
in life is comfortably freshing.
I sit up in my bed and look around and sigh,
'Why am I here again, there's nothing
here that I look forward to.'
I think to myself, as I walk across
the room looking for something to do.
The sunshine through my window reminds
me of the starry moonlight.
I look out my window and watch
the dusty desert wind roar on by,
And I realize that last night was just
a dream taken off into the shadowy sky.
I'm disappointed that it could only be a dream,
for I felt as though that was really where
I am suppose to be now.
My purpose in life; to look out for my
pact's territory on a nightly prowl.
