There are crumbs left on
a path leading home
vows glaze
like ice laced through weeds.
Ideals shrink to thumbnails
and life is not a dance, but
a sad party of drinks
that fights the promise
of Scripture.

does ice trickle? i always imagine it in a rather static state...
life is not a dance, sad news... i had hoped it would be
the line about the sad party reminded my of Mark Strand's "The Long Sad Party", I recommend it highly...
thanks so much for the entry in the contest

Idea's shrink to ice
for life is not a dance
maybe, just a suggestion
the rest I like just fine

Hey, thanks darlin'. "Ideal" is the big picture, not 'idea'.
Good idea, though.

Potent
drink of words here!
I like the line:
ideals shrink to thumbnails
Wished you would've capped the I!
Intense ending. Bravo. All the best in the Contest!

Thank you my dear laureate! For comment and critique.
The capital for that was configured to the form even though
I always consider.
