from the beginning it all ends....

....If my heart went on to say all the words I ment to say
if my heart spoke all the words of all the things I want to say
will it make a difference will the last word make you stay
if you could't hear the first emotion spoken
what volumes could make you change

If life had to end on a small note of sadness
will there be a meaning if I'm swept away by madness
will a tear in your eye make you finally realise
the state of what I once was, was the only love in your eyes

If ancient symphonies don't come to my rescue soon
and fate lets me bleed to death from your inflictions and my wounds
then I'll set my heart towards heaven where once my soul came from
and gladly in the arms of God return where his love is never cold

I've counted the stars before I laid down my pen again
wondering if I could find the one that I had called after your name
but the night grew darker and the stars started faintly fading
and I wondered why since there were no clouds there passing

He said it will take five minutes only for the pills to stop my heart
I thought, that will be enough for me to write you this part
but I guess my heart is too weak or the pills are too strong
and I never got to tell you in length how much for you I long.

  • Love the ancient symphonies image. Adds much to the theme. The rhyming sounds a little forced on this. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it to me.
This was, regardless of the rhyming, a great poem. Excellent work and best of luck in this contest

  • I loved the last stanza and specially the last two lines. They were amazing. Aside from this I notices that somehow the breath was long in the lines even though they read so smoothly.
I love it still, it's beautifully expressed.
