A crowded, bustling airport,
she waits for him to arrive,
so they can say their last good-byes.
Vibrations from her phone,
1 new text message.
So technologically inclined is the world today,
that she reaches for it without thinking.
It's from him.
"I already miss you.." it reads,
and her heart slows by a fraction.
They are intimate, but only friends,
She loves him, but also knows, it couldn't happen.
It could go nowhere.
He's leaving her. Moving away.
Her best friend.
She doesn't know how she'll get along without him..
She responds "I'll miss you more than you know.."
Her thoughts race, and her heart breaks a little with each passing second.
She searches for him, but he still hasn't arrived.
Vibrations. 1 new text message.
She is walking when she reads it, but stops in her tracks.
This message changes her world.
"I love you.." It reads.
She is confused,
unsure of whether to be elated, or utterly broken.
She knows she will cry no matter which way she feels.
She searches again, and finally, he is there.
Their eyes meet across the crowded room,
and she walks slowly towards him.
She reaches for him with her arms,
but a part of her that she can never get back,
reaches for him as well.
Her heart is in his hands,
and she can do nothing but hope he will be gentle with it.
"I love you so much" she whispers.
"I know," he replies, "I couldn't leave without telling you.."
Too late, she tries to blink back the tears that are already running down her face.
He's leaving, never coming back..
And she knows her heart will forever remain in pieces..

lol it does sound like the plot to a movie or something doesn't it? No, that was exactly how my best friend left me. he said "I promise on all i find holy, on my life, and all that i love, i swear that as long as blood flows through my veins, i will never forget you"
funny part is, he's having a baby with a girl in calgary now. and he's only been gone for just over 2 months -
