I mentioned to you how the old swinging tire wasn't good for the earth, how you could gain the same altitude from the grass holding you up. You laughed and asked how long I could keep the two worlds separated. How could I possibly be strong enough to hold man and his lost mother apart for so long.
After a while, things start kissing back to where they came from. Grass would accept the stinking rubber and slowly breathe reality into the fibers. Rubber would whisper change.
"Believe me. The earth is made to rebound. Why else do I let myself touch a leaf lover every afternoon?"
I sunk into your mud-words then, feeling as breathless as the sky with a cough.
And you hadn't even kissed me yet.

Strange...but somehow serene.

i really like the way this makes me feel, but i don't understand this:
After a while, things start kissing back to where they came from. Grass would accept the stinking rubber and slowly breathe reality into the fibers. Rubber would whisper change.
it changes tense from the rest of the poem and seems (probably because i'm slow) completely unrelated.
but i really love this piece and the ending. maybe i'm missing something.

Wonderful! Your imagery is always breathtaking and I like the way you keep this in the realm of an internal process.
Excellent.
