writing gives me pleasure
no matter where I go
I take my pen and pad with me
'cos you never know
just when inspiration
will hit you in a rush
in the high street shopping
or queuing for a bus
I get some funny looks
from people passing by
as I lean against a wall
and my pen begins to fly
like lightening 'cross the paper
in perfect harmony
with the thoughts and ideas
that have just come over me
but I pay no attention
to the stares and to the grins
fact is, they do not know
they could be appearing in
the latest verse I'm writing
be it long or be it short
I only know when ideas come
that I simply ought
to put pen to paper
no matter where or when
because if lost that idea
might never come again.
