i stand near you
and inhale a rare atmosphere
like a man standing on top of a mountain
where the mass of rock shrinks to a point
to touch thin sky and clouds
such rare air fills my chest
and i swell inside from the feelings
that flesh strains to contain, a flight
by the weight of a feather, balanced
on warm winds
and i know the ways of the world
are not these, and i savor the moments
which lift like the rising heat of sun
which soothe like a balmy moon
i stand near you
so i can breathe.

I had to come back to this one, amazing! It was like taking in a deep breath of air and releasing it ever so slowly.

I love the way you build up to the poem's apex. We are carried to those heights and then reminded of their rarity. The effect there is so stunning. Especially because you take us back up again...remind us of that which makes either/or bearable and soothing...companionship. The last two lines were so impacting, so beautiful and deep.
i swell inside from the feelings
that flesh strains to contain------EXQUISITE!!!!!!!!! What a inner flight!

Your poem is very soothing, a balm indeed, the imageries, the rhythm, the thoughts.
It's a wonderful feeling when we have someone who makes us see and feel all those things.
It's beautiful your poem

This has beautiful assonance within it, rolls from the tongue and also is poignant in its softness of subject. Beautiful.
