Orchids

I walked into the house and just knew that there was somethin
cause there was nothin at all.
Not a sound to be heard; for the first time, I listened.
Like so many I wouldn't.

It scared me to death, but it wasn't fear that gave it to you.
Oh, how I wish I saw this coming.
With no color in your cheeks or life in your eyes.
How I remember I'd see the world in them.

Is it too much to ask for someone to know
that you don't ask for much, just someone to hold?
To know that they're your dream come true.

Is it so hard to want someone to show
that they can feel that you love them so?
Or show that they love you too...

I'm standing here with an orchid, and I feel as though that I am to blame.
Oh, let's face it, I know it.
And I can't help but to think that I'd start it all over.
To know this wouldn't happen.

I couldn't fix all my mistakes. We're human, and it's in our nature.
But I'm more broken than you deserved.
I'd start this over and I wouldn't allow the first time I saw you
to avoid the last time I saw you cry.

And I'm honestly searching for words. I hope I get the right ones this time.
But sometimes actions speak louder.

Cause I miss you more than you could ever really know.
I promise, I could show you that this time.
If God would give you back to me, I tell ya, I'd make him proud.
I'd wipe away every tear with a kiss on the eyes.

Why was it too much to ask for me to know
