That's What Kindergarten's For

Welcome to the fall of just enough
Is all that I can make out from the news these days
I sit down and turn to blackened skies
It seems the world has lost its honest northern ray
A compass in the stars ruling fate
Says smiles are to glory as conquest is to land
I can tell you I am just a man
I don’t want to die with a bullet in my hand

Fade to black and leave a peaceful sound
Fade to black and leave a peaceful sound

Welcome to the story of a girl
Standing in the ocean as the moon comes out
Angel’s feathers touch the water’s face
And give her new condition a preconceived route
Do you feel a pang of sympathy
Looking through a telescope from miles away
Or are you, with no knowledge of her life,
Throwing one last explosion into the fray

Fade to black and leave a peaceful sound
Fade to black and leave a peaceful sound

Welcome to the glance of kingdom come
It shimmers for an instant in the back of all our minds
But can you illustrate it for yourself
Or has someone drawn it for you or are all truths intertwined
Welcome to the glance of kingdom come
Where all good men are god and god in nowhere to be found

So grab your crayons and your pens
From your jackets and your friends
Time to learn to live again
That’s what kindergarten’s for

Fade to black and leave a peaceful sound
Fade to black and leave a peaceful sound

Author notes

This is actually a song, so it probably doesn't translate that well in poem form.

I'd be interested to hear this in its original format because it does not translate well as a poem. The ideas are lovely and the rhyme is obvious because it is meant to be set to music.

Now, I'm not completely certain how this all gets back to the title & the line in the sixth stanza because they don't seem to fit all that well.

But, nonetheless, I thank you kindly for your entry and wish you luck in the contest!
