In a far away land
Where I need never cry
Past the Doors of War Drobe
There sits my Mind's Eye.
With the Key to Mind’s Eye
I can unlock any door
From the past, present, future
And from myth and folk lore
But what if, perchance
On one dark, fateful day
That wonderful key
Was, say, stolen away?
Oh it would be horrible
Tidings to send
If all that you knew
Were to come to an end
If I couldn’t imagine
My friends all to life
They wouldn’t be there
Not a man, nor his wife
They’d never exist
For they can’t without me
My Mind’s Eye is where they live
Understand? Don’t you see?
So in case something happens
(You never can tell)
I made sure that everything
Would turn out well
I surrounded the land
With an eel-infested sea
And The Pearl and the Dutchman
Guard the waters for me
Robin and his Merry Men
Patrol most of the wood
They’re a fierce band of outlaws
But they’re generally good
And in the Rainy Basin
What do you think I did next?
I made that part the home
Of a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
But the help I greatly value
The protection I can trust
Is from my Knights in Shining Armor
Who keep my land untainted and just
Strong Sir Darcy, Good Sir Bingley
Sir Edward F., Sir Colonal B.
Sirs Wentworth, Bertram, and Tilney
And their leader, Sir Knightley
They never let pass
Any Wizard-like critter
Or witches, or vampires
No matter how they glitter
They’ve no place in my world
They’d try to steal the key
So they’re sent far away
Under orders from me
But the fiercest of creatures
From the far side of the globe
Is the dragon who guards
The very doors of War Drobe
And no one has beaten
That monstrous defender
Except for Prince Zuko
(But he’s a firebender)
And beyond War Drobe’s door
In the cave, standing nigh
Is the wonderful cavern
I call my Mind’s Eye
Inside it is everything
I ever believed.
And in it my very best dreams
Are conceived.
With a slipper for dancing
And a flower for grace
A mirror for luck
Which runs oft in this place
A comb and a lamp
And a gold crown as well
A necklace of teal
And one made with a shell
These things from the sages
Were given to me
And with dust from a pixie
Their spell sets me free
The portal is opened
I see far and near
Wherever I wish
I can go there from here
From the courts of St. June
To the world Malastair
On to Hobbiton, Pemberly,
I haven’t a care
A trip to Wayne Manor
Would be most delightful
And The Phantom’s dark lair
Would be deliciously frightful.
And then? On to Narnia
And Never Never Land
And to help Sherlock Holmes
Find that smooth Speckled Band
But first, I’ll make a copy
Of that infamous key
King Louis the Sixteenth
Will do that for me
I’ll keep the first in the cave
To keep running the portals, you know
And the other, around my neck
Where all important things should go
So if you’ve ever seen me
Wearing a key on a chain
I hope now you know why
And I needn’t explain ;D
Author notes
A portal into my imagination...an island of dreams...and the adventure of a lifetime.
(Yes, I know the 2nd to last stanza is weird....i'll fix it someday.)

Welcome to All Poetry~
Very interesting!
I just love the idea and the rhymes which are drawn to its form.
It is special, but I must admit that I would love to critique this on the 2nd level . ( See my page on critiquing)
Otherwise, I will gladly feature this. thank you!
Warmly, CookieZeal/Site Greeter
