A Poet's Heart

Poets come in every shape and size,
truly you can't see,
the passionate heart that beats within,
their words yearning to be set free.

They could be the smallest child,
or a burly biker that is bigger than a tree.
But secretly deep down inside,
still a true poet they will be.

So please don't judge the cover,
if you want to know about the book.
Because the talent of the poet
isn't marked by a certain look.

But if you really want to spot one,
I will tell you where to start.
You must ignore the outside package,
and listen deeply for the poet's heart.

    Well Done

Well Done! My favorite part was when you used the old say "Don't judge a book by its cover." and twisted it to aply to poets. I can't really think of any improvements so keep up the good work.

    Good

This is a beautiful poem, laid out well and described with feelings written with the heart and edited by a poetic soul. A touching and eloquent description of the heart of a poet.

  • True words you have penned, we do sometimes tend to judge by what we see
I enjoyed this piece, thanks for sharing
