I will remember you

For your sacrifices and bloodshed

So that we can stand tall, proud, and free.

I will remember you

For inspiring my strength

For me to be me.

As a young man

You took your pride

You swallowed it down.

You packed your flag

You packed your bag
Left that small Georgia town.

Our country called

You stood to answer

In the face of adversity.

You fought brave

You fought hard
Against willful iniquity.

To this day
Your stories are told
With a medal of honor to remember.

My grandpa, your legacy's flame
Will always burn on
Never to smolder to an ember.
