How do we define courage,
what are its attributes?
Is it only the heroic qualities
of titanic struggle that stand
the test of time; the stories
of myth and noble deeds
fashioned by unknown bards
in an age when gods walked among men?
Forget those mythic heroes,
they are few and far between.
What is more impressive
is the courage of the everyday.
When the chill winds of destiny
shake the frail rigging
of mortal bones and the resolve
of the vulnerable heart,
where then lies bravery?
It resides in the response
of the nameless millions
who rise each morning
to confront the coming day
with unsung dignity: in the faceless
and the downtrodden who refuse
to stay fallen; in the seed of hope
that grows and conquers empires.

I must agree with your assessments here, Scribe. Heroes are not the ones who run fast or look pretty, who gain admirers through their feats, rather than their unsung, unseen actions within their daily lives. Well done, my Friend. Good luck in the contest.
