Heros Die.

Doctors told me how he saved me.
How he'd purposely swirved the
car so that he'd get all the
impact.
He'd always been my hero..
at any cost.

-----------------------------

I watched life drain from his body,
death slowly taking over.
I spent endless nights holding his hand.
Watching him as he slept.
Listening to any sign of life..
a breath, a heartbeat.

Wishing for any changes.
Hoping for the sound of his voice.
Begging to see those bright eyes.

Days went by and it only worsened.
His color faded until he was as
pale as winter's snow.
Until one night, the breathing stopped.
Until one night, the beating stopped.
All there was left was the sound
of the monitor.. a neverending beep.

-------------------------------

As I dress in this black dress,
all the memories flood my brain.
Every fiber of my being blames
myself.
What is left for me now,
when all I had is gone..?
You kept true to your promise..
you kept me save.
You died the hero you always were.
The good ones always die,
.. heros always die.

Is it selfish of me to wish just
this once you were the villian?

What do you think?

I wrote one about someone who died also
"the one i lost" or something like ._...

    • Thank you. It's such a serious topic I wasn't sure I was going to be able to show the emotions people go through when such tragedies occur. But, your comment means a lot. I'll go check your's out right now.
