Life goes on

My surface is smooth and blank like a mirror,
A single droplet of pure water breaks my surface;
Wide shockwaves of energy spread out in ringlets,
The life below me does not notice.

The colorful pebbles on the shore glint in the weak sunlight,
There is a hanging feeling to the air;
Thick grey clouds fill the sky,
Thunder rumbles in the distance.

Even with the approaching storm I still flow smoothly,
My being only bending away from the occasional obstacle;
Suddenly cold shards of water fall from the sky,
Piercing my surface but I go on anyway.
~
After what seems like forever the wind, rain, and thunder stop,
The sun begins to appear again kissing everything with its soft radinance;
The moist brisk wind touches everything gently one last time before leaving,
Sometimes whatever life may throw at you, you should move gently on, like a river.
