The soldier boy is weak and weary,
His armor laid askew,
He goes to slay the dragon,
To save us all from doom.
But who really is the dragon,
But the boy in clad himself,
To pierce the heart of dragon,
Is to pierce himself.
He lays down to rest himself,
And close his weary eyes,
His body deep in slumber,
A long and restless night.
The castle tower is empty,
The princess rides away,
For she is dressed in armor,
The dragon she will slay.
She saves him from his sorrow,
And bleeds for him instead,
For as long as she is with him,
That sorrow will be dead.
For in the night she slays the beast,
And returns to the home,
She lays beside the knight...
And he is not alone.
