Three Little Lambs

                                      Three Little Lambs

Three little lamb were playing in the meadow one day
their mama came out and said
children the time has come
for you to go out and seek your fortune

The one little lamb looked in its mama's eyes
and said baa
the second little lamb said baa baa
the third little lamb said baa baa baa

After bleeting their good byes
they were on their way
before they were out of sight they looked back
and their mama was no longer there

with tears in their eyes they continued on their way
soon they came to a fork in the road
there they met three fat pigs
The fattest pig inquired where are you three going

The oldest lamb replied to seek our fortune
the youngest lamb ask have you found your fortune
The fattest pig said we dont need any fortunes
we have our brick house with the wide chimney

where we cook those big bad wolves
in a big pot of boiling water
yum yum yum
the three fat pigs waddled off toward their brick home

the three lambs parted each taking a different fork in the road
the little lamb taking the left fork in the road
soon arrived in a strange looking place
there she saw a huge giant with a big ax in his hand

standing beside the giant was a large bean stalk
the little lamb said mr giant what are you doing
with a gruff voice he answered cutting down this bean stalk
but why questioned the little lamb

my mean wife and the boy jack are up there
i am chopping down the bean stalk so they cant get down
and i can start a new life for me and my goose
the goose that lays golden eggs

the huge giant and the little lamb became good friends
wherever the giant would go the little lamb would follow
one day the little lamb told the giant about her sisters
that she missed them and wanted to find them

the big giant looked at the little lamb through sad eyes
and said i will miss you but go find your sisters
he opened the bag he carried over his shoulder
he handed her five golden eggs and said go share your fortune

the two friends parted and went their seperate ways

the little lamb that took the middle road
wasnt so lucky she found herself in a barren area
there were very little signs of life and food hard to find
there were no place to sleep except foliege near rail fences

at night you could hear the howl of hungry wolves
looking for something to eat
one night as the little lamb was trying to sleep under some thich underbrush
she saw the piercing red eyes of a hungry wolf

after a few hours the wolf fell asleep
the little lamb scrambled out the back way
she ran as fast as she could
not knowing what direction she was going

the little lamb that took the right fork in the road
she walked for several hours it was starting to get dark
she was hungry and tired and no place to sleep
then she saw this fine looking brick house

a thought ran through her mind wondering
could this be the home of the three fat pigs
slowly she approached the front door
hesitating as  should she knock or not

finally she very gently tapped on the door
a voice from inside yelled go away go away
she answered let me in i am a little lamb i am hungry
not while i have hair on my chin will i let you in you big bad wolf

the little lamb turned and slowly walked away
tears in her eyes and holding her hungry stomach
not knowing what direction she was going
finally realizing she had returned to the fork in the road
where she started

looking around she saw her sister
she was sitting in the middle fork of the road
rushing to her they both told of their bad experiences
then they saw their sister walking up the left fork in the road

they ran to meet her asking if she was allright
they told her of their horrible experiences they had
their sister said look i have enough fortune for all of us
she showed them the five golden eggs

the three little lambs hopped and skipped all the way home
meeting their mom at the gate to the meadow
they all started jumping with joy
the three little lambs and their mom lived happy everafter

          an after thought
they say if you go to the forks in the road just before
the sun sets and stand real still
you can hear echoing from hill to hill the voice of the giant
ho ho ho  who is afraid of the big bad wolf

Those lucky little lambs... and lucky Mamma that they all returned to her with the gold.

A cute take on this, Ed
