Acting

Up on the stage
under the lights
you reread the script
open house is tonight

you say all your lines
welded deep in your brain
you see an old friend in the front
and your glad that they came

you stand in a line
and bow to the ground
you smile as you see
this is one happy crowd

you smell all your flowers
in the hallway light
then collapse into bed
at 11 at night

you hug all your friends
and sign all their shirts
you take out the set
after all your hard work

you say final goodbyes
and some even have tears
but it's all okay
you will see them next year

  • great!

I think this poem expresses the true meaning of what most actors go through during a performance. I can relate, (as an actor myself) that the tears, the late nights and the late nights all pay off in the end.
