She was always the saddest person
No one could figure out
But i knew her darkest secrets
and the things she tried to hide.
She always wished for love
and hoped one day others might see
the things that she was hiding
and all that she confided in me
a family life so tragic,
she was unhappy all the time
such a careful person
from a childhood of lies
her mother was a junkie
who's boyfriend like young girls
but since he was her dealer
her daughter was fair currency
her father was abusive
in all the worst kinds of ways
so a girl of only ten years old
grew up beyond her years
I always tried to save her
from the demons that still lurked
and threw my arms around her
when i knew she was hurt.
But now as life goes on for her,
shes been able to start again
with a distance from her family
and a hug from a good friend.
