21st Century Adam and Eve

World-wide spontaneous combustion,
Ending life with a final spark;
The skies rain debris of fire,
Illuminating the wasteland's dark.
Resurrection was never an option,
All of life rests together as one;
The clocks stopped at twelve-thirty,
The strings of existence came undone.
Yet, here I am alone and forgotten,
Condemned to life for reasons unknown;
Perhaps everyone chose the right path,
But for me was never correctly shown.
Did this happen for a particular reason,
What's the significance of me being alive?
How did everything die in a matter of seconds,
And how did I alone manage to survive?

Then there she was...
The reason to start over new;
It was love at first sight,
A feeling I never felt so true.
We are the 21st century Adam and Eve,
Making Judgement Day a past;
Proving that even in the worst of times,
Love will always last.

Author notes

A story about a man who alone survived the massacre of life, the Apocalypse. Just as he questioned why only he survived, he found her. His beacon of life and love.

The story was suppose to depict that even in troubled times, there is always something good if you just open your eyes. Hope you liked it.

Silvos.

    Wow! Christopher, what an imaginary piece you have written here. I thought it was very fascinating, and well written. Although I really don't believe the last days will be the way we expect it, I do believe the last line in your poem to be very true. Love WILL last. Interesting read, thanks for posting
