There's a crack in the door
And a brief flicker of movement.
My footstep is steady
As I ease toward the entryway.
I reach out my hand,
Ready to turn the handle,
But with a sudden flash
It is being smacked away.
Moments later something appears,
An eye of a crystalline blue.
Then, a voice utters,
"Do not gaze through here."
The body turns and walks away,
Leaving the door ajar.
But my curiosity is not sated
And I creep closer once more.
The angle is odd
And it alters my view
But at least
I have been allowed to see more.
I can see a male form before me,
Almost feminine in appearance
And I frown at my vision.
All I can see is his back
But what I see is scarred.
It is mutilated.
He has been harmed beyond repair.
I push the door open a bit more,
Trying to view more of the flaws.
What can be fixed?
What must be protected?
I should probably tend me first,
Care for my own wounds,
But I feel the need to lessen his.
I just need a better view.
The door is slammed in my face.
I remain startled and stumbling.
Then, I hear his voice.
"I don't care if I love you.
No one sees me naked."
Author notes
I'm not quite sure if I like the ending or not. Might add a bit more later.

You do realise that line is a metaphor, right?

no, I didn't. I'm an utterly thick idiot and I do not understand literary devices such as metaphor and hyperbole.
