Splendor In the Grass

Missing image
In the splendor of May
It was there that she lay
amongst flowers at the end of the path
between blossoms
And thick mesquite grass

Dozing from the sun
warmth envelped with her past love
and she dreamt'
'neath their tree
that he'd come home finally

So real it seemed
him with her near the creek
grateful tears fell to the ground
keeping his being staying around
can complete

And he smiled as he used to
when she was scared or feeling blue
then motioned for her to look
and it was then she knew

The little girl they had together
with her daddy's hair and eyes
stood right there beside him
with a smile beautiful and wide

She'd come to take him home
to travel on and suffer no more
so he'd come to say goodbye
to his Sarah he adored

I'll be right here he said
laying his hand upon her chest
when you see me you will know me
my eyes you'll never forget

And I'll look for you always Sarah
in each time that will come
I'll never leave you alone
yes you are the one

He kissed her on the forehead then
Like he so loved to do
it was another one of those things
she'd remember forever through

Then clouds began to cover
the one she so dearly loved
and she knew he'd gone home
with Rebekah up above

She woke laying still
the memory fresh of the scene
and her heart felt so torn
ripped apart at the seams

Even so she was happy
for he so needed his release
and her search to again find him
she swore would never cease

Time and again now and forever
Sarah's soldier would always be
pulling her to his side
pulling her through
Eternity
