Lying still upon the ground.
Where were his parents?
Why were they not around?
The noise was tremendous.
The music played so loud.
He had been watching the party.
Of his parents, he was so proud.
His mom and dad were dancing,
In a world just made for two.
With no thoughts of little Charlie,
Nor what he might go through.
Drinks and boisteous friends,
Taking first place in their lives.
A way to forget their troubles.
A way to deal with strife.
Charlie was an afterthought,
To be enjoyed when they saw fit.
To be cared for out of necessity.
In anger, someone to hit.
Charlie felt someone behind him.
He was lifted and badly shaken.
Then thrown to the ground below him,
His little life was taken.
Many hours had gone by.
His parents assumed he was in bed.
Never in their wildest moments,
Did they know their child was dead.
The next day the body discovered.
The parents stricken with disbelief.
Cuffed and led to a patrol car,
Began their time of pain and grief.
Plenty of time to think of Charlie,
As they sat there in their cell.
Little Charlie danced in Heaven,
His parents consigned to Hell.
Author notes
Child abuse and neglect is something I think everyone should be aware of. Whether we just see it or do it, I am hoping my words might make some changes.

Beautiful.
But the parents, like so many others, would have learned to love him. I guess in your story, it happened just a little to late. Beautiful peom. Thank you for sharing. -
good
it very unfortunate that this type of situation is common. I would have like more details in order to really personalize the story and sympathize for charlie more. -
Very Sad
I am interested in getting some of my poetry printed or published either way I just want to get it into print. I am sending you an E-mail so you can see what kind of stuff I write. I hope you like it Sister, God bless you and yours. Love James! -
This is a very sad story.
This is right up there with abortion. Why can't people go to jail for that? It is no worst than this. In the womb, out of the womb, hogwash! It is murder and Obama pushes it. He is trying to remake the country in his image...we are in trouble!
The poem will shake you to your core if you have a conscience. Good job.

For every child we read about there are thousands who live lives of utter misery and pain who go unknown about and unloved.
After it comes to light they say Lessons must be learned but nothing changes.
Some like 'The Boy called It' David Peltzer (?) somehow turn their lives around but all too often they end up becoming abusers themselves

Should have been a gold
I see it as a gold trophy winner for sure honey and yes to stop this violence and abuse we must all get involved with our little agels about us .

This is a sad write of a poem it brought tears to my eyes but it also says alot about child neglect abuse and also about what kind of situations when alchole or drugs can lead to, I pray that your poem will be an eye opener to those who have children and have there children exposed to such danger. Thanks for your caring wisdom!

Hi
I was wondering if I could get your opinion on something. I am thinking of starting an online business of printing and binding works for others. Poems, memoirs, recipes, stories, etc. Even if they have a child that would like to draw and write his or her own book, I can do those too. There would be a onetime setup fee then as many books as they want. The rates would be very reasonable.
The work fast and efficient. The material can be sent to me online, then I can edit, print and bind and ship book or books. They can design their own covers if they want. All books (except childrens) would be done in black and white, covers in color. Do you think this would work? I think they would make great gifts for family and friends. Please, let me know what you think. Thanks, Darlee77
I have one published, but I am doing several of my own.
