Virtual Party

Come on now let’s shake a leg, you’re not too old I feel;
a birthday is a thing to celebrate,
a virtual party’s what we’ll have, a real one’s just no deal,
I’m sure that you don’t want to have to wait.

We’ll hire a club and DJ and make sure the bar’s well stocked
a plentiful supply of party food,
the men in black tuxedos and the ladies will be frocked,
the lighting will be dimmed to set the mood.

The birthday girl’s a lady, so for her we’ll hit the heights
pull out all the stops to entertain,
before the strippers come on stage we’ll brighten all the lights
so seeing them in focus is no strain!

She can have the pick of any man no matter what his size
to waltz her round the floor in proper style,
she’s beautiful to all of them, you’ll see it in their eyes
I hope this birthday party ‘s made her smile.

So stow away the cribbage and the chess and all the rest
put on your party dress, let’s have some fun,
you’re not dead yet, you’ve many years of that I’m sure you’re blest,
let’s have some tea and welcome in the sun!

Prompt ...
Another Birthday...on 30 May, I will celebrate another birthday in my aging years...don't really mind as I have lived a full life and have been blessed many times...I lost my partner in 2003 and have lived alone since...have not really looked for another partner, enjoy participating in the local senior groups...I get bored easy and my flame is flickering low...thought maybe someone could write a poem to fan the fire, lol...

Just a little bit of nonsense ... I hope you enjoy!

I enjoyed this read. Birthdays don't seem too inmortnt to me; at least mine don't. I love celebrating my wifes birthdays, although she takes hers in stride. When you get a certai age it become what the heck. I will be 75 soon and that will be w mile stone for me. Then it will be the wife's at 65. So far we go on loving each other and still hav elots of laughs. Take care, Papagallo

  • Well Done Sue--Excellent rhyme as usual and very well deserving of the Gold Award--

Sue, I think I'd love to come to any party you throw! Give me more notice next time, and I might be able to rent a boat (LOL)! A very nice invitation, in lovely rhyme. Lita

    • I'm sorry about the short notice Lita, I'd give you plenty of warning and you'd be top of the list, now there's a thought, one big party for all at AP

Thanks for the comment, your words are always warmly recieved.
