Surviving the trials and tribulations of life
and not always agreeable with my beloved bride.
Children, which we love, with I wants and I needs
always ahead of our own.
Pillow talk became necessary
and the couch offered no comfort.
Still we managed to keep love in our lives...
Losing a home and issues of health,
both caused many problems,
and surgeries only added to the financial strain.
Three years of illness without employment
before disability kicked in,
forced my bride to carry the load.
My bouts with depression didn't help any either,
still we managed to keep love in our lives...
Now finally in a home we can afford
and realizing much isn't required
to sustain a good life.
Through it all both good and bad,
we lived much closer to God.
It's because of God,
we still manage to keep love in our lives...

That was wonderful, great switch up at the end. It made my mood a little better.

Honest poetry!
Your feelings pour from every line of this piece. My husband and I have been through something so similar I can fully understand each and every line of this piece! Thank you for sharing a piece of your life with us!

children with their I wants and I needs - very good. You're truly golden when you can survive with that going on, in my opinion. I should have said that marriage without children doesn't count in my book, either. 16 years with illness and loss of income - it's all ringing a bell with me. Amazing what we survive and so thankful for the devoted mate to see us through.
