Bingo

I love playing bingo, at the bingo halls
I "will" my numbers to come out, on the bingo balls

The dark ones are the G's I think
Oh Gee ~ these number's stink

Here's the next game - - ok let's go
My heart is pounding, short of breath, the caller is so slow

My bank account is dwindling fast
I'd love to win just one, (it would be a blast)

I seem to be on a loosing streak
I shadow the winner each time, I think

Mystified is the word in this hall
I thought by now, I'd have lucky balls!

And as my big win draws near
I rub my nose and squeeze my ear

Lucky trinkets resides, all around
If I don't win this, I'll throw my dauber down

Ok last game, I'm praying hard
I got enough left, for one more card

Come on caller, just one to go
Yippee B - 10 - - - - I scream BINGO!!!!!

Author notes

PLaying bingo is my comfort zone. I'm in love with ... Bingo

My mother absolutely loves bingo, so this poem was a fun read, and one that gave me a little picture into my Mom, something I thank you for.

    good job

I don't really see much to critique here. This is a story, and it works as a story. The meter seems fine to me. I am not all that particular about meter anyway, as long as the lines scan reasonably well. All in all, this is a good poem, although not my type of reading. It does its job and does it well.

I got a big smile out of this one. I remember watching sitcoms years ago that would show what they thought a typical bingo addict would look like with all of their props. I think the fuzzy troll dolls were big on that list.

The poem itself was fun to read and very cute in its enthusiasm. There were a few places where the meter seemed to trip a bit, but I'm sure keeping perfect meter in such a piece would be almost impossible.

As for the imagery, I could see it all... the balls popping up, the tweaking on the ears... all of it.

So much fun to have read this. Thanks for the smile and the entry. As Klassy said, "Bingo! You've done it."

BINGO! You've done it; you entered. Thank you for the smiles and for taking time to share with us. I am the world's worst bingo player. Can't seem to quiet down long enough to get it, and all those cards are just daunting. But several of my friends are regular, johnny on the spot!

    FifthDove,
Hi. lol I am giggling cause I use to be a bingo caller for several years, in the bingo business from 93-99 and it's really amusing. The hall seems to be one big family at times. I miss it sometimes. Although I do not miss the players cursing me out! LOL Good luck!!!!!!!
    Rock on..
