They say " even memories fade to sepia eventually" but it hasn't happened yet for me.

Whisper    - soft words

Breathing heartbeats infecting hope into cobblestones
frosted with Autumn leaves and summer rain

Frozen banana window panes leaking tomorrow
and fairytales- ones where nightmares end and
rusty tattoos fade into numbing, and stop hurting.

Liquid energy transforms colors in transparent shades,
while little girls inject tylenol into acidic gums,
believing that it can cure everything, even innocence.

Ear drums enhance the silence twisting singing in the
shower dances behind closed doors- the speakers of childhood
tattering and slipping from swing set wings, to stinging concrete

Apricot freckles curve platforms into sheets embedded with
scary midnights, and bold heels dig crevices away from
the form of itching skin sleeping, trapped in her own skin.

Quiet words aren't always soft-  but rough like unshaved legs
and the shame that carreens towards shore with it when
pool parties and summer competition defines her eyes.

Whispers hide in the lining of her veins, the loose leafs
of dreams that have yet to form- lava formations building up
behind an entity of nightmares- the guttural quiet but not whispers.
