The crystal figurine that I placed high on the shelf,
is now showing signs of neglect.
It doesn't shine as bright as it used to,
the sun would always make it sparkle.
Dust and doubt have settled into the cracks,
revealing even the smallest missing pieces.
When it was new, it was the brightest and
most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
But over time it was taken advantage of,
knowing it was always there yet
unintentionally ignored.
With patience and love I will try to restore it,
bring it back to its original beauty.
Hopefully with hard work and a tender touch,
the sun will once again make it shine.
Shine like it used to
before I placed it high on the shelf.
I miss the way it would sparkle in the light,
a moment I could lose myself in forever.
The way the sun would make it
warm to the touch was truly amazing.
I have learned that if you want to protect something
and keep it out of harms way,
do not place it high on a shelf.
Keep it as close to you as you possibly can,
there it will always be safe.

Fantastical :)
This is a great piece (like all your work that I always love reading). I can't help but feel that this poem isn't really about a figurine hmmmm *ponders for a moment*
This was great. I love the metaphors throughout the entire piece from beginning to end this is really just one big metaphor and you get your point across so well. It is too true that to protect that which is most precious to us we must keep a watchful eye.
And as always I have nothing negative to say about it.
