The curious see,
And they all run away,
From the man with his flute,
That he’s desperate to play.
Thick as a brick,
He hops on one foot,
With a band of old goat skins,
All covered in soot.
His aqualungs breathe,
Locomotive breath,
And his crossed Mary eyes,
Scare the kiddies to death.
But he used to be normal,
Some say mundane,
Till a witch’s promise,
Once drove him insane.
She assembled a band,
With the flute man in tow,
And proclaimed them musicians,
With a mystical flow.
So foot soon met knee,
As if moved by a ghost,
And behind the band played,
What she wanted the most.
But the music was deep,
And still stuck in their heads,
They must follow the flute man,
Till the day they are dead.

Amusing to be sure. A simple and entertaining story, well written within its poetic parameters. The fantasy nerd inside me wants to see this expanded and added into one of the novels I read...

Reminds me of the man from Hamelin....

You have cleverly integrated song titles in such a way that they are unobtrusive and natural in a light-hearted but skilfully constructed poem. Nice to see that you achieved an honourable mention. Tony

Nicely constructed with a nice flow, the rhyme is pretty good too. I like that you too have added Tull titles in this lovely piece of work. Well done and good luck in the contest.

Well Said
Great write Tull has been a favorite fo as lng as I've listened to music. Aqualung and Thick as a brick are to of his best but they are all worthy of gold. Best of luck to you, Boog
