You blink, and your eyelash brushes my cheek.
Then, you slide your nose across my face
from cheek to chin, and then
nose to nose.
There your lips are sitting,
centimeters from my own.
There I sit, confused,
unsure of what's to come.
You trace my face with fingers,
touch straying to my lips,
Hands shaking slightly,
you brush back my hair.
Finally, you draw near again,
lips so near my own.
"What are you doing?"
I keep asking myself over and over again.
The question burns in my mind,
and then I ask...
"Are you planning on kissing me?"
The words escape.
"No..."
You say playfully, and bop my nose with yours,
moving away to focus on my ears.
Confused and bewildered,
I sit there wondering
as your lips brush across my ear
while you speak.
And then, we are quiet,
as you come but close again,
and this time brush a touch
against my bottom lip.
And so I ask again...
"Are you planning on kissing me now?"
The reply this time is
"Maybe..."
ever so coy.
"Well, I must warn you something, then."
I do draw back a touch.
"I never have before
So if you so decide......
You should try and make it good."
I do smile with my heart aflutter.
"I don't honestly know if I'm that good..." says thee.
I tell you I wouldn't be able to tell anyways,
and you say "okay".
And we look at one another.
I tilt my head to the right just a touch
As do you,
And we two draw near
Until we touch.
Our lips meet in a soft embrace
Once....
Barely parting
Twice...
A breath
And third, I am exploring...
Tongues meet,
and dance...
And somehow it is three hours later...
And our mouths are still so inclined.
The two of us, together,
paths intertwined.
Not just friends any more.
