I was asked to write a poem
and if I could, read it aloud
but I am afraid my voice still trembles
beneath the weight of this heavy cloud.
Since then my mind now slowly races
through memories with you there,
but how can I put these thoughts to paper
in a way for all to share?
I think of what an extraordinary woman
who often did more than she should,
whose helping hands were lent to anyone
and you did for them what you could.
You've been a friend to many
to name them all is just too much,
but I do know each and every one
will surely miss your loving touch.
You leave a legacy to be admired,
may your children hold their heads high.
Breathe in all you have taught them,
to help ease them through good-bye.
Although grief may have overcome us
know as a family we will get through,
and once we begin to laugh again
we'll know it was given back to us
in rememberance of you.
