I remember.
I remember that you taught me right from wrong; good from bad.
You taught me to let go of the past,
In order to make friendships last.
I remember your words of wisdom and wit,
A determination that spoke never quit.
Through sticky fingers and knotted hair,
You never fail to show you care.
I remember you taught me to rely on others,
So I could grow, trust, love;
You will always be there to give me that shove.
Through rain, sleet, snow;
I know you'll always show,
Sitting proudly in the front row.
I remember the way you joke and laugh with me,
Your soul so kind, so sweet, so free.
A heart so golden and true,
If only you knew,
How much I look up to you.
And you should know even though I still have much to learn,
There's no need to worry about me.
You taught me the basics, and you taught them well,
And it's because of you that I can grow, swell, propel.
