Poison darts of betrayal
find their mark and pierce
my skin and threaten to
take me down
as I thumb through
paga after page after
page of memories,
searching for signs,
little things that should
have stood out to me
and set off alarms but
didn't, and I'm wondering
why and how and I know
the who and the where
and I'm breathless at
the realization of just what's
going on and this new
hand I've been dealt
and I see what was for
what really is and the
scandal stinks to the high
heavens and I question
just how this came to be
and what the hell am I
going to do now
as I leave behind this
loathesome creature
to be her own undoing
as she no doubt will
and I get on with the
business of forgetting.
