You were always behind me,
I know that’s the case now.
Before I even set eyes on you,
your arms were around me.
Whenever the world pushed me,
you kept me standing solid.
You were always beside me,
when my hate was too much.
Before I even knew your name,
you eased the tension inside.
With the touch of your fingers,
I released my clenched fists.
You were always before me,
waiting patiently for me.
Though I was too blind at first,
to see your love and affection.
You never gave up hope for me,
because we were fated for each other.
You were always within me,
nestled within my heart.
Your eyes were in my mind,
your words were in my ears.
We touched each other’s dreams,
your name was a prayer on my lips.
