Good Memories

Walking down Main street.
I remember my childhood as if it was yesterday.
My eyes start to water and my heart starts to ache.

The old post office that had barley 100 boxes,
Jumping up and down just trying to get the mail out,
stepping on phone books to look over the counter,
getting my Disney stamps that I loved so much.

That old Laundry Mat where everyone would gather.
Thunder storm came, time to find the quarters for the dryers.
Trying to get the high score on the Pac Man game.
Playing hide and seek, trying to stuff the cat in the dryer.

Country Corner Cafe.
Best place in the world.
Hit 120 degrees all the country folk gather,
to hot to cook on the stove, we sit and talk about life,
how time flies, why didn't I listen to them then?
Desserts with every meal, to bad that place burned down.

-tears start to fall, everythings a blur now-

The football field.
where we had our easter egg hunts.
Where we dreamed to walk across it one day and graduate.
The 1st time we were amazed by someone,
we wanted to be the star quarter back or the head cheerleader.
Be Homecoming Queen and recive the roses.
We did graduate and now we are walking across it again.
Time flies, 10 yrs past from the lives we loved so much.

Now we got our own kids going through school,
making memories just like ours.
Things change I know but there memories will be just as good.
I guess no Kid ever gets the concept of time flies.
It just does and it never waves goodbye.

So much emotion that every kid feels. You show that everyone has memories that last for a while.

  • "I guess no kid ever gets the concept of time flies.
It juse does and it never waves goodbye."
Those lines were absolutely amazing. Especially the last one, darling.
We really don't get it. We're all so excited to grow up, then suddenly, it's gone, and we're like, "Where the hell did it go?"
I don't have many memories like this, but I know time flies. I watch it all the time, as I watch my little cousins grow up.
And. As much as I hate it, I'm growing up, too.
We all have to grow up, though. It's just part of life. We always have our memories, though.
Okay. So I'm rambling now. Back to the poem. Lol.
    It was great, Kay.
