Wounds never heal
while they are bleeding,
won’t stop causing pain
if you keep getting cut.
There is a time when reason
must overshadow pride
by choosing renewal above vengeance,
allow life to lift from the hospital
though finding the beauty that was lost,
seek band-aids of love
above searching for weapons
in the quest of following hate’s path.
What truly hurts only stops aching
with lots of care,
never by continuing to fight
until death is the only result.
Victory comes at times of surrender
unto reality’s facts,
not to retreat, but move in a different direction,
yielding joy instead of rage.
Dropping a scarred shield
let’s you see more clearly
the places draining your happiness,
ending the hemorrhaging
and enabling you to regain the hope’s strength
which were lost in the battle,
learning to release
all the swords that become
an addiction to dueling.
