Lies the sky encumbered with incessant aimless cloud;
a bulbous blanket blossoming
into an unmoving earthly shroud.
Silver lines – conspicuous
in their absence – mutely mourned
by almost-noiseless birdsong,
ghostly and...
forlorn.

Please don't comment, I've barely been here for the past 5 months so it's highly unfair for me to recieve comments when I haven't given any out.

This reminds me of something ...
written for Halloween. I don't suppose you even celebrate Halloween across the pond, but this is just melancholy enough to make me think of Halloween anyway. Actually, I'm not sure if you have any real holidays coming up until Christmas. I know you don't have Thanksgiving.
Anyway, I hope all is well in your world, and you've managed to find a suitable university.

Thanks for the comment, I hope you are doing well

We do celebrate Halloween over here, though I don't think to the same extent as America.
I have found the right University...unfortunately I've realised that the course I'm on isn't what I want to be doing...so I'm leaving to take two years out, get an extra qualification, work experience and a job and apply for medicine, which I see as...allowing me to fulfil my potential, whereas this course won't. That's the plan anyway...*fingers crossed*
How are you keeping?

|I thought this was quite nicely written and your request not to comment is pointless! This is good and therefore deserves favourable comments and that is what it just got.

Disappointed you have not replied. WASP.

Sorry, I know you said no commenting, but I have a talent for ignoring things, at least things I don't want to do.....
I enjoyed this piece, I really can't find fault with it, a better poet might, but I think even that would be unlikely. It is very well done, I love the imagery, and don't worry about commenting back, it's always a pleasure to read good work.

Thank you very much

Beautiful is the way to describe this work, how sad is this, it's as sad as the lack of poetry from you since you wrote this. Such a talent unused.
Hope your season goes well... FOX! WASP.

Thank you as always
As it looks like I'm going to be taking 2 years out now maybe I'll knock a few more poems out than I have been...

I know you asked not too comment, but I have to.
What a beauty this is! I love the alliteration in the second line. For so few words, you choose them well. It's an outstanding use of language in its purest form. I miss your work, George.
Uncle Knight from across the pond........
That's a really long swim, huh?

Haha, thanks as always. I'm sorry I have been so slow replying - the few times I've been on AP it hasn't told me I have comments...

-
oh i love all the alliteration, beautifully done.
and you do deserve comments! your work is fantastic and i miss it =[ you need to write and be around much more! i guess you have a life
gorgeous imagery and choice of vocabulary in this. i truly enjoyed reading it, and i look forward to more.
