To love
is to mute the strength of your voice,
a throaty whisper
scratching at the back of your throat
and all the sounds you desire to make
concentrated into a low moan.
To love is to break your mold, quickly reforming
molecules into appeasing structures
and you've erased the last decade in furious strokes
but to love
is to relearn the sound of your name,
to discover and rediscover—
bowing backwards, twisting sideways
only to be standing up straight.
Twining limbs and lives and the look
on his face when you first laughed;
a moment, miniscule-
yet fondled with rememberance
following crumbled footsteps with a jaunty strut
snapping back hair
to slap the face of your past lovers
but it's never been like this
before.
Author notes

This reminds of the whispered words between two lovers...when it's too intimate to be spoken loudly. All the new discoveries that are truly new again when you find yourself in love again. Loved this....

"but to love
is to relearn the sound of your name"
That truly is the test of Love, to continue to fall each & every day. To discover the things you were enraptured by to begin with, to realize the fragility of everything that is precious. When one is of this mindset, it becomes easier to love those things which are not quite as lovable about others on the outside of your inner circle. Love it, Meli.
